I'm not a girly girl growing up, even though had bunch of teenage magazine, still didn't encourage me to be the stylish teenager. I still remember, my five years old me play pretend make up, using lipstick toy that I already covered with my mom's lipstick over it. Where was those girl in my teenage days? I'm a late bloomer. I learned make up, I believe, in my senior year of high school, where everyone throw sweet seventeen birthday party (yes, in my era, it's sweet seventeen not sixteen), suddenly you are pushed into young adult mode, with dresses, high heels, and make up. Entering college is another difficult phase. I was in hospitality management major, where make up and high heels shoes are a must, I was so stressed that I felt I'm entering the wrong major. Yes, I was that girl that don't want to put make up and high heels. I don't wear my make up daily, I work in blue collar environment. I wear my comfort clothes and work alone on second floor. I don't meet people often, so no make up necessary. When I go out, if it far from home, I wear make up, if it close and with my close friends, no make up, lol. Far from that, now, I have drawers full of make up, I'm constantly learning from youtuber, I have a collection of hair styling tools. But still, everyone know me as a girl who doesn't like wearing make up. Every time I wear full face make up, I felt it was too much, and sometime, I felt wearing my mom's face, doesn't mean my mom isn't pretty but I felt old. A Basic Make Up for me, is an eyebrow and an eyeliner. I don't wear fancy foundation or anything, just an eyebrow and an eye liner. That's it. But for a must-have, probably those above. I just need those to says I'm wearing make up today. Some probably screaming, or some laugh. But yeah, that's my reality. I still wear others, like contouring, highlighter or fake eyelashes, when I go more formal events, such weddings or others. Maybelline I love Maybelline, yeah I'm your typical drug store make up user, and Maybelline is my top choice. And my must used make up from them are :
KATE Sharp Lock Gel Pencil I bought these in Singapore when I needed eye liner so bad. It's interested because it was so thin, and super fine. I should buy two or more, because it's the best eyeliner I used so far. Kate is not available in Indonesia, that's why I cringed now. It's super easy to use. Lakme : Precision Eyebrow Artists I just bought these and just used it once, and love it so far. The down side is it doesn't have spoolie brush, so I used my old one from NYX, eyebrow palate, which I loved too. Shu Uemura Laque Supreme BG02 My favorite lip color ever. I love nude lip color, that slightly pink and coral. And I found the one in Shu Uemera, it never leave my bag, because it's my go to lipstick. It never go wrong because it's nude and easy to apply. I found the matte version of it in Make Over Intense Matte Lip Cream 003 Secret, which was recommended by my favorite make up youtuber, Molita Lin. I bought it, and when I compared with my Shu Uemura, it almost the same color. For the make up brush, I used my set make up brush from BH Cosmetics, it's an affordable quality brush set. I still used my set of eye make up brush from Sephora for eye shadow.
I don't like using mascara because it always end up in my cheek, don't have primer because I straight into foundation. Still learn to use contouring and highlighter the right way. I'm the basic newbie make up girl, still learn it and loving it. #blogeverydayinFEB

The last three steps of Korean Skin Care is to seal all the goodness. Clean it already, nourish it with all the goodness, and now, you need to seal it everything and protect your skins from the sun. Congratulation, you made it on the last steps. 8. Eye Cream I belonged to Heavy Sleeper Group, able to fall asleep in seconds and can't be easily waken, even by earthquake if I'm already in deep sleep. So, naturally, I never think about using Eye Cream, to reduce eye bag since I don't have one. But the truth is Eye Cream not just created for those eye bag, but also to keep those eye bag youngly preserved. Believe me, entering big 30, those eyes wrinkles (first age love mark they said) are just another years away. I saw it on my brother, that motivate me to use it on mine. LOL. I chose Benton Fermentation Eye Cream, without any further research, it's just because my favorite online shop sell it. And so far, I love it. Again I don't black eye bag, so I can't tell you the significant different after use it. But I love how the cream just melted away when you put it in your eyes area. Another factor that made eye wrinkles away is happiness. Believe me, saw it a lot in my friend's, I believe being single is my natural anti aging. (no offense!!) 9. Moisturizing Cream Another must product! Moisturizing cream are used to seal everything you put into your face, and hydrate your skin at the same time. There are tons variety of moisturizer in the market. I choose mine the lightweight one. For me putting all 10 steps was exhausting, I felt like my skin is too heavy, and they're still adapting to all goodness, like I need a minute or so for my skin to absorb. I choose the lightweight one, for an instant and light reason. I was using my Hada Labo Lotion for my moisturizer, and getting used of how light it is on my skin. But for once a while, when I had my monthly breakout, these Aloe Vera Soothing Gel from Holika Holika really a great help. I believe every skins are different, choose moisturizer that hydrates your skin, seal the goodness, and fight your skin's problem. It might need some trial and error, you can buy the sample one to try, but once you find it, be loyal to your skin's new best friend. 10. Sun Screen
A must have and essential product for those who live or visiting tropical country, like me. Even though you work inside room and not directly under the sun, believe me sun UV ray are everywhere. I was using 2 in 1 moisturizer cream plus SPF before, that made my face heavy, like using invincible mask for a day. If you want to use real sun screen, just use the real one, not the 2 in 1 products. It's good if your foundation have SPF on it, but please still use sun screen for good. COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream is light, hydrates and smells great. No complain here. Final Comments Those are everything that used for my daily skin care. I know everyone are different. It might work for me, but it might not for you. Good things about Korea skin care, they make sample of their product, that you can choose and try before make a commitment buying one bottle of it. My skin's type is normal. I have skins that are not sensitive and oily, I'm really thankful for that. My prime problems are the dark spot around my cheek area, blackheads around my nose, and sometime breakout monthly (these year, it started to happened, before, I never ever have acne problems, finally my face reach it's puber era). Following the previous post, the next steps after cleaning your face is nourish it. Your face is already clean, and now it's the right time to put all the goodness into your skin. Like any other beginners, I was so confused about the differences of toner, essence, serum and cream. I was one step girl before, and now I was introduced to 4 different products that claim to give all goods that your skin need. Don't be surprised if some products made your skin breakout, because it actually happened to me. I took it as my skin adapting to all these new skin cares (maybe tried to get used to all luxurious treatment I gave to my skin), the breakouts were gone after a week. 4. Toner Yes, I belonged to those popular, everyone's toner group. It's Park and Son's Beauty Water. Watched it on many Youtube videos, and my friend also recommend it. I used toner for many years, for instant cleanser, if I was too lazy to wash my face, I used 2-in-1 Toner to clean and refresh my face, it always made my face stingy. Now, I know why, because it contained alcohol, which is something that you want to avoid. Once I use Beauty Water, I never want to go back. Toner are used to clean any residue left on your skin, rehydrate it, re-balance the PH level and prepare your skin for the next steps. 5. Essence Still, until now, I don't see any difference between Toner and Essence, honestly. Essence is the base of Korean Skin Care, it's said to hydrate your skin to get it ready to absorb all the goodness. Basically, I found that Toner is like Make Up Primer, while Essence is the foundation. We need toner to get it ready, and essence to be the base. If you have budget, I recommend you to buy those highly claimed SK II Facial Treatment Essence. Mine was still sealed, I bought it when it was on Black Friday Sale. For right now, I use Missha's Time Revolution Essence. I don't know if it because Missha or for the whole 10 steps Korean Skincare, but yes, my pigment spot around my cheek was reduced. 6. Serum I can't lie, but it's the last skin care product that I bought. Serum is the concentrated goods that you choose for your own skin's problem. Everyone have different problems, choose it according to what your skin needs. I always interested to Klairs Vitamin C Serum, but in the end, I chose Secret Key's 24K Gold Premium First Serum, simply because it consist gold literally. When I first receive the product, I was disappointed from the lack of gold in mine. But once, you pump those serum into your palm, literally gold flakes came out. After drinking wine with the exfoliator, now my face drink gold too. The other reason I choose these serum, because of their brightening and anti-aging claimed effect. 7. Sheet Masks (Weekly)
Another thing that I thought was the same but actually turn out totally different. Since both called masks, I thought those exfoliator mask and sheet mask are the same, but turn out they have totally different use. One was used to remove those dead skin cells, and another used to boost all the goodness into your skin. You can choose whatever masks, brands, ingredients, and type of the sheet masks. And korean always make it interesting, from their paint mask to make it less boring. Or provide interesting ingredients for their sheet masks, from wine, makgeolli (Korean's Rice Wine), caviar to horse fat (yes, there is Horse Fat Sheet Mask). It was recommended to use it once a week. But you can use it everyday if you want it, my friend did it. To get it more fresh, you can chill your mask or just store it in your refrigerator. |
