Following the previous post, the next steps after cleaning your face is nourish it. Your face is already clean, and now it's the right time to put all the goodness into your skin. Like any other beginners, I was so confused about the differences of toner, essence, serum and cream. I was one step girl before, and now I was introduced to 4 different products that claim to give all goods that your skin need. Don't be surprised if some products made your skin breakout, because it actually happened to me. I took it as my skin adapting to all these new skin cares (maybe tried to get used to all luxurious treatment I gave to my skin), the breakouts were gone after a week. 4. Toner Yes, I belonged to those popular, everyone's toner group. It's Park and Son's Beauty Water. Watched it on many Youtube videos, and my friend also recommend it. I used toner for many years, for instant cleanser, if I was too lazy to wash my face, I used 2-in-1 Toner to clean and refresh my face, it always made my face stingy. Now, I know why, because it contained alcohol, which is something that you want to avoid. Once I use Beauty Water, I never want to go back. Toner are used to clean any residue left on your skin, rehydrate it, re-balance the PH level and prepare your skin for the next steps. 5. Essence Still, until now, I don't see any difference between Toner and Essence, honestly. Essence is the base of Korean Skin Care, it's said to hydrate your skin to get it ready to absorb all the goodness. Basically, I found that Toner is like Make Up Primer, while Essence is the foundation. We need toner to get it ready, and essence to be the base. If you have budget, I recommend you to buy those highly claimed SK II Facial Treatment Essence. Mine was still sealed, I bought it when it was on Black Friday Sale. For right now, I use Missha's Time Revolution Essence. I don't know if it because Missha or for the whole 10 steps Korean Skincare, but yes, my pigment spot around my cheek was reduced. 6. Serum I can't lie, but it's the last skin care product that I bought. Serum is the concentrated goods that you choose for your own skin's problem. Everyone have different problems, choose it according to what your skin needs. I always interested to Klairs Vitamin C Serum, but in the end, I chose Secret Key's 24K Gold Premium First Serum, simply because it consist gold literally. When I first receive the product, I was disappointed from the lack of gold in mine. But once, you pump those serum into your palm, literally gold flakes came out. After drinking wine with the exfoliator, now my face drink gold too. The other reason I choose these serum, because of their brightening and anti-aging claimed effect. 7. Sheet Masks (Weekly)
Another thing that I thought was the same but actually turn out totally different. Since both called masks, I thought those exfoliator mask and sheet mask are the same, but turn out they have totally different use. One was used to remove those dead skin cells, and another used to boost all the goodness into your skin. You can choose whatever masks, brands, ingredients, and type of the sheet masks. And korean always make it interesting, from their paint mask to make it less boring. Or provide interesting ingredients for their sheet masks, from wine, makgeolli (Korean's Rice Wine), caviar to horse fat (yes, there is Horse Fat Sheet Mask). It was recommended to use it once a week. But you can use it everyday if you want it, my friend did it. To get it more fresh, you can chill your mask or just store it in your refrigerator.
