The last three steps of Korean Skin Care is to seal all the goodness. Clean it already, nourish it with all the goodness, and now, you need to seal it everything and protect your skins from the sun. Congratulation, you made it on the last steps. 8. Eye Cream I belonged to Heavy Sleeper Group, able to fall asleep in seconds and can't be easily waken, even by earthquake if I'm already in deep sleep. So, naturally, I never think about using Eye Cream, to reduce eye bag since I don't have one. But the truth is Eye Cream not just created for those eye bag, but also to keep those eye bag youngly preserved. Believe me, entering big 30, those eyes wrinkles (first age love mark they said) are just another years away. I saw it on my brother, that motivate me to use it on mine. LOL. I chose Benton Fermentation Eye Cream, without any further research, it's just because my favorite online shop sell it. And so far, I love it. Again I don't black eye bag, so I can't tell you the significant different after use it. But I love how the cream just melted away when you put it in your eyes area. Another factor that made eye wrinkles away is happiness. Believe me, saw it a lot in my friend's, I believe being single is my natural anti aging. (no offense!!) 9. Moisturizing Cream Another must product! Moisturizing cream are used to seal everything you put into your face, and hydrate your skin at the same time. There are tons variety of moisturizer in the market. I choose mine the lightweight one. For me putting all 10 steps was exhausting, I felt like my skin is too heavy, and they're still adapting to all goodness, like I need a minute or so for my skin to absorb. I choose the lightweight one, for an instant and light reason. I was using my Hada Labo Lotion for my moisturizer, and getting used of how light it is on my skin. But for once a while, when I had my monthly breakout, these Aloe Vera Soothing Gel from Holika Holika really a great help. I believe every skins are different, choose moisturizer that hydrates your skin, seal the goodness, and fight your skin's problem. It might need some trial and error, you can buy the sample one to try, but once you find it, be loyal to your skin's new best friend. 10. Sun Screen
A must have and essential product for those who live or visiting tropical country, like me. Even though you work inside room and not directly under the sun, believe me sun UV ray are everywhere. I was using 2 in 1 moisturizer cream plus SPF before, that made my face heavy, like using invincible mask for a day. If you want to use real sun screen, just use the real one, not the 2 in 1 products. It's good if your foundation have SPF on it, but please still use sun screen for good. COSRX Aloe Soothing Sun Cream is light, hydrates and smells great. No complain here. Final Comments Those are everything that used for my daily skin care. I know everyone are different. It might work for me, but it might not for you. Good things about Korea skin care, they make sample of their product, that you can choose and try before make a commitment buying one bottle of it. My skin's type is normal. I have skins that are not sensitive and oily, I'm really thankful for that. My prime problems are the dark spot around my cheek area, blackheads around my nose, and sometime breakout monthly (these year, it started to happened, before, I never ever have acne problems, finally my face reach it's puber era).

Following the previous post, the next steps after cleaning your face is nourish it. Your face is already clean, and now it's the right time to put all the goodness into your skin. Like any other beginners, I was so confused about the differences of toner, essence, serum and cream. I was one step girl before, and now I was introduced to 4 different products that claim to give all goods that your skin need. Don't be surprised if some products made your skin breakout, because it actually happened to me. I took it as my skin adapting to all these new skin cares (maybe tried to get used to all luxurious treatment I gave to my skin), the breakouts were gone after a week. 4. Toner Yes, I belonged to those popular, everyone's toner group. It's Park and Son's Beauty Water. Watched it on many Youtube videos, and my friend also recommend it. I used toner for many years, for instant cleanser, if I was too lazy to wash my face, I used 2-in-1 Toner to clean and refresh my face, it always made my face stingy. Now, I know why, because it contained alcohol, which is something that you want to avoid. Once I use Beauty Water, I never want to go back. Toner are used to clean any residue left on your skin, rehydrate it, re-balance the PH level and prepare your skin for the next steps. 5. Essence Still, until now, I don't see any difference between Toner and Essence, honestly. Essence is the base of Korean Skin Care, it's said to hydrate your skin to get it ready to absorb all the goodness. Basically, I found that Toner is like Make Up Primer, while Essence is the foundation. We need toner to get it ready, and essence to be the base. If you have budget, I recommend you to buy those highly claimed SK II Facial Treatment Essence. Mine was still sealed, I bought it when it was on Black Friday Sale. For right now, I use Missha's Time Revolution Essence. I don't know if it because Missha or for the whole 10 steps Korean Skincare, but yes, my pigment spot around my cheek was reduced. 6. Serum I can't lie, but it's the last skin care product that I bought. Serum is the concentrated goods that you choose for your own skin's problem. Everyone have different problems, choose it according to what your skin needs. I always interested to Klairs Vitamin C Serum, but in the end, I chose Secret Key's 24K Gold Premium First Serum, simply because it consist gold literally. When I first receive the product, I was disappointed from the lack of gold in mine. But once, you pump those serum into your palm, literally gold flakes came out. After drinking wine with the exfoliator, now my face drink gold too. The other reason I choose these serum, because of their brightening and anti-aging claimed effect. 7. Sheet Masks (Weekly)
Another thing that I thought was the same but actually turn out totally different. Since both called masks, I thought those exfoliator mask and sheet mask are the same, but turn out they have totally different use. One was used to remove those dead skin cells, and another used to boost all the goodness into your skin. You can choose whatever masks, brands, ingredients, and type of the sheet masks. And korean always make it interesting, from their paint mask to make it less boring. Or provide interesting ingredients for their sheet masks, from wine, makgeolli (Korean's Rice Wine), caviar to horse fat (yes, there is Horse Fat Sheet Mask). It was recommended to use it once a week. But you can use it everyday if you want it, my friend did it. To get it more fresh, you can chill your mask or just store it in your refrigerator. Actually I've been doing these for three months, since I turned 30th, but not all 10 steps. I buy all 10 products one by one, because it would crash my skincare budget if I bought all 10 products in one month. So, I learn by steps, add another step when I purchased another products. I will divide all 10 steps into 3 blog post to get it more thorough. Before I started following these korean skin care steps, I belonged to those simple groups, wash it and sun screen it. That's it. Simpler Time. But now, I can't think of skip, now that I get used to follow all steps. All my three cleansers are from Neogen Dermalogy. The one that made me fall in love with Neogen is their Foam Cleanser, but I bought the Cleansing Stick first, then bought the other two. I could pick green tea as well for my exfoliator, but can't help but choose wine, I want my face drink wine literally. Before start all those steps, there are step zero, and that is washing your hands. You don't want to apply all the goodness with your dirty hands. Clean your hands, girls! 1. Make Up Remover + Oil Cleanser Always clean your make up no matter how tired you are. But admit it, sometimes I slept with it. You can clean the make up regularly with your base make up remover first. Oil cleanser are made to clean your make up and created especially to clean our natural face sebum. The fact is, you can't clean your natural oil with water based cleanser, you need to clean it with oil. I have two different kinds of Oil Based Cleanser, for different reasons. Never thought how bad my skin need oil cleanser until tried it myself. First, Green Tea Cleansing Stick from Neogen. It is the first Korean Skin Care Products that I bought. I choose Cleansing Stick for the convenience reason, you don't need mini scoop, because admit it, the scoop can be gone and you would use your dirty hands to get your cleanser cream, in the end, it will get dirty. Second, it's not spilled easily, you can bring it along for travel. Since it almost finished, now cleansing stick belonged to my gym bag. Second, Rice Water Bright Cleansing Oil from The Face Shop. I fell in love the second I use it. Not because it was clear pink cleanser, but it also because the smell. Loveee it. There are many kinds of oil cleanser with many brands. I'm still open to try different brands, for next time. 2. Water Based Cleanser It's your ordinary face wash that commonly used. I know Neogen from youtube, and their foam cleanser is the first one that stole my attention. It's foamy and you can see the green tea leaf on the bottom. Neogen's Green Tea Foam Cleanser have PH 7, which is great for our acidic face's skin. For alternatives, I have my Hada Labo's Face Wash for my gym bag. Before all these korean products, Hada Labo is my go to products, and still. It's affordable and easily find. 3. Exfoliator (Weekly) Basically it's your face scrub, products that you used to remove dead skin cell. Before, I used my Masker Bengkoang Mustika Ratu, it's Indonesia's Cream Mask Products. My friend recommend The Skin Food's Black Sugar Scrub that worked wonderfully in her skin. But then, I finally choose Neogen's Bio Peel, and I choose the wine one, because... just because it's wine. It consist 30 textured pads, soaked with all the goodness, that can remove your dead skin cells easily, leaving skin smooth and fresh. For me, it was looked like you put sweet grape juice all over your face. Cleaning is essential for your skin, and it's the basic steps to get clear bright skin. I thought double cleansing is just too much, but now I can't skip these steps at all. After double cleansing, your skins really feel freshed and bright, all that dirts and oils are gone. I'm still open to try other products, other brands. But these are the products that I used everyday for now. Special Shout Out
If you want local / Indonesian version of these skin cares, I'm actually curious about Kohvee Story, they have a line of face products, including cleansing oil, face scrub, and sun screen. And like their names, all of the products's main ingredient is coffee. |
