It was my birthday on Saturday and now I'm 29 years young. Each of us have birthday tradition or something we love to do every year, it become tradition. It can come from family, friends or just you. In our family, every birthday we eat Yellow Rice or Nasi Kuning, it's traditional fragrance rice cooked with coconut milk and turmeric, make yellow colored rice. Another must eat food in your birthday in our family or every asian families is Noodle, especially Fried Noodle. It's simple, you eat noodles as a wish in your birthday to have long life and health. So, make sure it was long noodles not short noodles. One thing that I love most every birthday is CAKE. I can still remember when I was kid, I went to local bakery to order what I want for my birthday cake then, it was butter-cream cake with dancing balerina figures on top, or another year, I want simple black forest cake. I said to my mother 9th birthday, it will be the last time I have cake in my birthday. You know what, I never stop. I love having cake on my birthday, I buy it once on my own (and people think it was so sad). And for my 29th birthday, I got a chocolate cake from my sister in law and I made it one myself, Confetti Birthday Cake, recipe from Christina Tossi of Milk Bar. I always want to eat one since saw it on Masterchef US Season 6, and I made one to cross my bucket list before 30. My 2nd brother gave me a recipe book, The Italian Baker. Maybe later on his birthday, I made one of the recipe for him and exchange book for gift. We are kind of book lover.
I knew every year I was kind of hope a surprise from my friends, but maybe as I was getting older, I stop expect them to surprise me. Just celebrate with my best friends. In the evening, I invite my girls to attend wedding with me. The one that got invited was actually my father, but lately he doesn't feel to attend wedding anymore, just let me go instead of him. Even-though he was joking about me attending wedding, so I could held wedding as soon as possible too. But I know he want me too. Do you have birthday tradition?
