From October 22th to October 24th, I was cruising with Costa Victoria, one of cruise ship from Costa line. I booked via travel agent in Jakarta, and I think we got a good price by comparing with other passengers. I traveled by cruise before, I think 3-5 times, I don't remember exactly. Once I went cruise on Star Virgo, I traveled with family. Another cruise I took was focused on traveling between countries, I went cruise on China and Scandinavia. But these time, I traveled with a friend, paid by my own. So I was trying to get full experience from it. October 22th We traveled from Jakarta to Singapore with Air Asia, we arrived around 2 PM in the afternoon and straight to Harbourfront Cruise Centre with taxi, the cost was about SGD 20.00 When we arrived in Harbourfront, I think the Cruise just arrived because many people disembark and was getting ready to start cruise excursion in Singapore. We directly check in our baggage and don't forget to prepare your printed luggage tag. The Costa staff will give us a number and the time schedule, we are expected start board the ship. Since we were early, we got number 1, and our schedule was 5 PM While waiting the schedule, we got free time to explore Harbourfront Shopping Mall and Vivo City. Eat Lunch and shopping a little bit. On 5 PM, we prepared to aboard the ship. Prepare your passport and disembarkation card, since you're technically left Singapore. Costa Crews will hold your passport as long as your time in Costa Victoria, they will give you ticket. The ticket is needed to exchange with your passport in the end of your cruise. You can go straight to your room or have dinner. Me and my friends were trying to found our room. Our room number was 60109 in Manon, we were confused because we didn't have any keys and there were no rooms in deck 6. We asked the crew, and she told us, Manon can be accessed via deck 7, and go downstairs from it. Manon is actually deck 6A. In our room, we found our card keys, Dinner Tickets, Costa Ship Map and Costa Today Paper in Bahasa. We got 2nd seating dinner in Fantasia on 08:30 PM, starting the day after or Day 2. On Day 1, Dinner is free seating, which mean we can eat wherever we want. Since we board so early, there were not many people in the ship. So, we took time to go around our ship and took pictures. We ended up having early evening dinner in Deck 11, because we didn't know then that day 1 was free seating dinner, we thought our dinner was scheduled on 08:30 PM. Around 10:00 PM, the time Costa Victoria departed from Singapore, we had emergency drill practice. Since I never did it in past cruises, I thought it wasn't necessary. My friend pushed me to do it, so I did. Wearing our life-vest, we went directly to emergency stairs, guided by crews, to level 6 (one level below), where we would be lined to aboard emergency boats, if something happened. Costa is very strict, they scan our costa cards to list who joined the emergency drill.
After holiday, I found out that the cruise ship who sank in 2012 was one of Costa cruises, the accident brought change to safety and emergency procedures in cruise industry.
