W series just ended these week on 16th episode. I have love and hate for these series, if you haven't watched it, my word for you is "never think about it logically" or you will be disappointed. I love how Korea made these really different plot in romance drama series. The series center to three characters, Kang Chul, Yeon Joo and her father, Oh Seung Mo. No more secondary characters, maybe Kang Chul's secretary but it was not exposed a lot. Plot Oh Seung Mo is a cartoonist, famed from his work titled "W". W centered on the main character, Kang Chul whose family was killed by unknown killer, and he lived to seeking revenges and found out who is the killer, by using his wealth to found the criminals along the way. After 6 years of the W series, Oh Seung Mo want to kill off Kang Chul's character and end W series. In his dying moment, Kang Chul accidentally pull Oh Seung Mo's daughter named Yeon Joo into webtoon's world. (Told you, it's not logical). The result is Yeon Joo, Kang Chul and rest of webtoon characters continuing the series without Oh Seung Mo's concern. They live their life and automatically turned into webtoon, without noone need to draw it. As Kang Chul starting to like "new character", Yeon Joo, his supposed to be better-half in the comic, So Hee started to disappearing. Kang Chul tried to end the webtoon series his own way, but in the same time, the main villain who kill Kang Chul's family came up and demand his stories as Oh Seung Mo never write the killer's story for 6 years. Oh Seung Mo focused on "rat and mouse" plot between Kang Chul and other villain, chairman Han. (spoiler alerts) Oh Seung Mo tried to end the series by drawing his face as the main killer's face. His reason is to made believable for the main character, as Kang Chul has seen him once in webtoon world. Unknowingly, these made the main villain can control Oh Seung Mo because their soul was linked to each other. Kang Chul, Oh Seung Mo and Yeon Joo tried their best to continue the series and hopefully made the proper ending. In the end, Yeon Joo has to choose to give Kang Chul or villains the happy ending. If Kang Chul alive, it means Oh Seung Mo die together with the main villain, and vice versa. Not Logical Story but Interesting
I found these not logical, how webtoon character and human can be together. If there are indeed two world exist, how those two are connected. And how Yeon Joo could live on webtoon world or Kang Chul as virtual character lived in real world. Until the end, there is no answer to these questions. Just don't think about it. Watch and let the stories flow like it is. It might not be logical but enough believable. Overall I love how they made it science fiction, taking unusual plot. No comical characters to made it comedy. It's more action, cat and mouse plot between Kang Chul and villains. If I could rate it, I will said 8/10, just because they don't tell us or explain more why they can travel through 2 worlds. And what was those weird picture on early episodes, I thought that picture was kind of mystical characters that made two worlds connected. For me, Oh Seung Mo is kind of God in webtoon's world. Bad plot and not overall characters get their proper stories, his webtoon main character came alive and seek explanation but ended up falling in love with his creator's daughter. I watched these drama because of the actor play lead male character, Eric. He is the leader of group Shinhwa, I follow them since college days when my friend introduced me to them. Actually, my favorite group member is M, Eric is my third favorite after M and Dong Wan. These is his first drama that I watched til the end. These drama is bittersweet, I have love and hate towards these drama. But the main theme is good, it's like "If Only" Movie by Jennifer Love-Hewitt, if you ever watched it. Plot Eric play the main lead character named Do Kyung, famous sound engineer. His character is bitter man, since left at the altar by his bride, a woman with name Oh Hae Young a year a go. The female lead character also named Oh Hae Young (basically title of these drama) just recently broken up with his fiance one day before their marriage with silly reason "I hate see you eat". Do Kyung lately see the vision about woman he doesnt know, but later we know that girl is Oh Hae Young, the girl with the same name with his ex fiance, who left him. And not far after the two met, Hae Young moved to the small apartment next to his room. The theme of these drama is why Do Kyung start to see vision all around these new Hae Young? What does she mean to him? Do Kyung started to take care Hae Young, because he felt guilty; accidentally broke Hae Young 's marriage by crushed Tae Jin's business (he thought her ex fiance, Tae Jin would marry Do Kyung's ex runaway bride, unknowingly to him, it's different Oh Hae Young). At the same time, the beautiful Hae Young, Do Kyung's ex fiance just arrived and working at the same company with the lead female character. Spoiler ALERT!
Love
Overall I love these drama, can't stop watching it, finished in one week. I will give 7.5/10, just because it's a long time to make they got together and the lead female's character. I even love the 2nd Hae Young more, and pity her, not having proper story and ending, she just there in the background. |
